Soldiers in Libya are using .50 bmg bullets on civilians.  That’s the one on the left.  

That’s beyond unsettling.  I had a discussion with my brother, who’s currently training in the police academy, about weapons that law enforcement/the military uses.  Do you want to know what police departments who even have these bullets use them for?  Immobilizing vehicles and shooting through walls.  If I remember correctly and have my physics right, .50 BMG bullets can be fired between 13-15,000 ft-lbf, which means they can apply a force of 13-15,000lbs through a given displacement of 1 foot.  These bullets are designed to shred things much tougher than the human body. 

Unbelievable.
